By projecting a holographic version of young Tom into the reality of the giant attacking robots, they attempt to reconcile with the consciousness of Celia, which resides within the machines. As the lab is attacked by smaller ground robots, the memory overwrite reaches its climax, leading to a peaceful resolution where the mechanical invaders stand down, reconciled through shared memory and forgiveness.
